  • This paper examines literature concerning the llama, alpaca, vicuna, and guanaco (collectively known as lamoids) from two perspectives: a recent survey of text and other reference materials available to elementary school students and a search for current data about the range and in some cases numbers of individual species. As an outcome of the investigation it is possible to formulate teaching suggestions based upon what is known concerning the ecological, economic, and cultural niche of the animals.
