  • The number of permit applications for small hydroelectric power plant development (less than 25 Mw) in lnyo and Mono counties has increased dramatically since 1980. The availability of undiverted streams with suitable gradients and flow rates, Federal land ownership, and regulatory and economic incentives have resulted in increased numbers of applications to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
