About

To learn mathematics is to learn a language - it has been called a pure language, the language of science, and the only universal language. By learning this powerful language at the highest levels, you will build a foundation for your future in business, education, engineering, government service, science or virtually any career. Our Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program will help you do exactly that! The Department of Mathematics and Statistics provides all undergraduate students with an education in mathematics and statistics that will serve as part of a foundation for life-long learning and preparation for graduate study, K-12 teaching, or employment in industry.

    The department's goals are to:
  • Teach students to communicate mathematical ideas effectively, synthesize information from multiple sources and perspectives, and use mathematical models and technology to solve practical problems.
  • Establish an atmosphere of creative endeavor that supports interdisciplinary collaborations, innovative projects, significant research, interesting courses, and informal discussions that mutually benefit student, faculty and the community at large.
