Title: A sea of turmoil at the heart of taxonomy
Author: Wilson, Paul Siri
Type: Article
Abstract: In this paper I argue that formal taxonomic groups, like families and genera, need not be monophyletic, i.e., need not include all the descendants of a common ancestor.
Description: Published in the newsletter of the North Coast Chapter, California Native Society. I have since changed my mind, in part because it is now much easier to know the evolutionary tree.
