Environmental space

I created a total art/environment about the parking lot apartment life that makes up a major portion of the city of Northridge, California. It is for this reason that this artistic performance took place in apartment setting. To represent this concept I have taken a normally simple but fundamental part of this environment and used it as my central theme. The 'door' in this way becomes my entrance into a new visual space. To change the ordinary confrontation between myself and the object, I have now altered that object. Paint as the medium changes the surface of the door. The door is no longer just a door and the imagination can grasp a new image. It is these images, stimulated by this altered space, that I also use in my drawings. (See more in text.)
