Exploration of extreme emotion
The intention of my Master of Music recital is to explore the extreme emotion depicted in operatic music. Composers use various aspects to assert these emotions, including text, melody, harmonic progression and dynamic markings. As a singer, my job is to understand the intention of the composer and dutifully try to present it in the clearest way possible. I will look at the various compositions in my recital and their use of extreme emotion using the different avenues discussed earlier by the composer. These findings will increase my understanding of the music and help me to explore the emotions within.
