Directory of board and care facilities in the San Fernando Valley

This Directory has been written to provide a placement tool for those professionals, agencies, or families who are choosing a Board and Care Facility for a particular individual. By providing general information about the facilities, the job of locating a home which best meets the needs of an individual may be more efficiently accomplished. The study was completed over a nine month period and includes a total of 98 facilities. Whenever possible, a personal visit to the facility was made. When this could not be arranged questionnaires were mailed to the various administrators. Those administrators who did not return the questionnaires were then contacted by phone in order for us to obtain the information included in this Directory. The information about each facility listed in the Directory are: name and address, phone number, admission criteria, price per month, services included in monthly fee, space available, house rules, supportive activities, program description, medical care, meals, visiting hours, and religious affiliation. Also included is information concerning the psychological factors when selecting a Board and Care Facility and the problems and concerns of the facilities themselves.
