Model-based design of a fiber optic gyro

The Fiber Optic Gyro is a sensor-based instrument which detects angular rotation. The technologies encompassed in this sensor are optics and electronics, both analog and digital. The design methodology of the gyro can be greatly enhanced by incorporating techniques of model-based engineering. Starting first with the system level model, each of the components can be specified by the system model and their operation verified by co-simulation of the component and system together. This methodology is described in this report for the modeling of the Fiber Optic Gyro system and the design of its digital processing component.
