Public service announcement about the recovery model

With the passing of the Patient Protection and Affordable care act affording more Americans access to mental health care services, it is necessary to inform the general public about the new direction in mental health services, the recovery model. Unfortunately resources letting the general public know about the recovery model are scarce. Public service announcements are an easy, cost effective way to disseminate knowledge to a large group of people, therefore it made sense to craft a PSA with the purpose of bringing awareness of the recovery model to the general population. The literature review examines the reasoning behind the switch from the medical model to the recovery model, common factors research and details the structure and efficacy of public service announcements. Evaluation of the project and future directions are also discussed.
