Lagrange multipliers technique for antenna array synthesis

This thesis describes a method for the design of antenna arrays. It is based on an optimization method suggested by Professor John W. Adams. The technique permits the designer not only to specify null directions, pattern levels, and plateau width, but also to optimize the main beam energy and to minimize the energy in the sidelobes. A computer program for the synthesis of broadside antenna arrays with equally spaced elements is presented. Several examples are included to demonstrate the method in the context of linear antenna array design.
