Financial Data Analytics as SaaS

[ABSTRACT ONLY; NO FULL TEXT] The development of software algorithms has revolutionized the financial monitoring service industry by automating data analysis. Financial monitoring has traditionally been performed by human auditors with specialized skill sets. This automation creates value by completing specialized analysis at higher speeds, lower costs, and greater accuracy relative to human auditors. This paper evaluates the market feasibility of a specialized financial monitoring software and analyzes the business case of providing the software as a service (SaaS) for the client firm. Our client is a startup company currently developing a strategy for entry into a niche market. In this work we evaluate the financial monitoring software (FMS) industry landscape by using data collected from scholarly journals, industry publications, and market research providers. Our team administered a survey to gather data on the target market's characteristics. The survey was sent to target customers and complimentary service agents who specialize in the niche market. Participants were asked to provide feedback on demographics, product interest, price sensitivity, and their role within the market. This exploratory research is evaluated in conjunction with statistical data from non-profit organizations to develop a market portrait. We conducted a study of the endogenic and exogenic influences in the market. The assessment of the current structure of governmental policy is appraised for risks and opportunities for our client. Our work also considers the financial implications of a market entry decision by incorporating our market portrait and client data into financial models. The resource requirements necessary to support an entry strategy were reviewed using client interview and secondary sources. In conclusion we provide our executable recommendations to our client in support of a practicable market entry decision.
