Muses and life: A graduate voice recital

Ji Yun Choe, soprano, presented her graduate voice recital on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the Master of Music degree in Voice Performance in collaboration with pianist Helen Wu. The program included several art songs, a chamber trio, arrangements of two arias, and an opera scene sing-along with quasi-orchestra. Choe and pianist duetted to Richard Strauss, Claude Debussy, Ned Rorem, Richard Hundley, and Lee Hoiby. They further collaborated with a clarinetist in a Schubert trio, a violinist in a Mozart aria arrangement, and a string quintet in an original arrangement by Choe that transformed Bellini's bel canto aria for full orchestra to a chamber-music piece. Lastly, the recital closed in celebration with all present joining in the music of Verdi's Brindisi from La Traviata, Choe's last hoorah with her CSUN music family.
