What Motivates Students to Choose a Career in Special Education?

Studies have reported a shortage in teachers of special education, while the number of students in need of services continues to increase. This thesis project sought to describe a method for informing students of this need and uncovering their motivations for entering the field of special education. This project proposes creating awareness in students through a workshop featuring information on the subject of special education as well as discussions to allow participating students to reflect on their motivations for considering special education as a career path.
