Title: LibQUAL+ 2009 Survey: CSUN Summary Data Analysis
Author: Dabbour, Katherine S.
Abstract: LibQUAL+® is a Web-based survey offered by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), which libraries can use to solicit, track, understand, and act upon users' opinions of service quality. During the spring 2009 session, six CSU campuses participated in LibQUAL+® as a consortium: Northridge, Chico, San Jose, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, and Sacramento, and funding was provided by the Chancellor’s Office to cover the costs charged by the ARL. All six campuses had to agree to use the exact same survey instrument and to do a random sample of their populations. In addition, each campus had to agree to map their various campuses’ departments and programs to a standard list of disciplines provided by LibQUAL+®. By standardizing the survey, the campuses would be able to compare their results to one another and to national norms. At CSUN, a random sample of 3,000 undergraduates and 600 graduates, and 1,000 full- and part-time faculty were sent emails inviting them to participate in the LibQUAL+® survey, which was available via the Web from mid-March to early April 2009.
