dc.description The self-study was signed and approved in January 2014. The report was developed through collaboration with faculty and staff in the Department. Final approval was received from the Dean of Health and Human Development. en
dc.description.abstract The self-study is for the Masters in Science in Family and Consumer Science degree only. The report provides an executive summary followed by 5 parts. Part I consists of a brief overview of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Department, followed by an overview of the M. S. in Family and Consumer Science including the curriculum and learning outcomes. Part I also describes instructional and support staff, the process of completing the self-study, and advisement. Part II addresses the “campus climate” by providing information on the diversity of the faculty and the student body. This section also describes activities that address culture and diversity within the courses and how the students’ voices are included in suggestions to improve the courses and related program. Part III discusses ongoing assessment results of the student learning outcomes (SLOs), related changes made based on the results, and strategic planning actions. Part IV covers key strengths and challenges that emerged from the faculty and staff retreat. Part V is a discussion of the appendices including syllabi for core courses, graduate program and faculty data, faculty curriculum vitae, a program modification proposal, the graduate handbook and assessment documents. This is the first self-study for this degree; thus, there is no previous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to discuss. en
