Computer Science Department Self-Study Submitted to the Office of Program Review

Abstract

The self-study for the Computer Science M.S. (offered since 1975) and Software Engineering M.S. (offered since 2007) provides an overview of both graduate degrees. Both of these graduate degrees are offered by the Computer Science Department. The Computer Science Department also offers a B.S. in Computer Science which is accredited (and thus reviewed) by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. The report consists of 9 parts. Part I is an overview of both Master’s Programs and course requirements. Part II provides information on enrollment trends within both programs. Part III describes the instructional support staff. Part IV provides information on the process used to develop the self-study. Part V covers advisement. Part VI provides a description of assessment and strategic planning. Part VII covers key strengths and challenges that emerged from discussions for both degrees through a meeting with faculty. Part VIII gives an explanation why there is no previous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Part VX includes appendices including Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for both degrees along with other data.
