The Theatre department (B.A./M.A.) 2016-17 annual assessment report to the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication for the Office of Academic Assessment and Program Review. The department revised its graduate SLOs (1. Define and evaluate the connections between theatre, entertainment, popular culture, and digital media arts. 2. Describe and apply the aesthetic, sociological, political, and historical frameworks of global theatre. 3. Analyze and interpret scholarly writing in the areas of world theatre history, literature and criticism. 4. Critically examine contemporary debates and emerging disciplinary discourses in theatre. 5.Create and design interdisciplinary applied theatre projects, incorporating audience analysis, dramaturgy, and community engagement) and attempted to assess undergraduate SLOs 1 and 2 (Students will demonstrate the knowledge and skills inherent to the varied and distinct processes of theatrical development and presentation; and Students will apply essential knowledge and skills through participation in theatrical projects) via Moodle because the EAS was not equipped to upload videos. The assessment was not completed because the rubric (included in report) did not successfully incorporate the criteria for evaluation contained in the signature assignment chosen for assessment. Plans for AY 2017-18 include creating an assessment for the Design option, evaluating the Graduate Qualifying Exams, revisiting the assessment of SLOs 1 & 2, and preparing for the 2018-19 General Education assessment of TH 110, a high DFU course.
