The Nursing department 2016-17 annual assessment report to the College of Health and Human Development for the Office of Academic Assessment and Program Review. The department relied upon students’ successful completion of the NCLEX exam, as well as program attrition rates, to assess all six program SLOs. Results show that the “average attrition rate of 2.18 over the last five years is far below the average for programs similar to ours 11.4% and 12.0% (for BSN and public universities respectively).” Similarly, the program’s “average NCLEX pass rates over the past 5 years was 90.44% which is also above the national average for similar pre-licensure programs.” In addition, indirect assessments from 2013-16 indicate that students are satisfied with the program’s resources and with achieving the program’s outcomes. Plans for 2017-18 include the assessment of clinical sites and of student satisfaction and perceived preparation, along with a review of curriculum for needed changes (Appendix E).
