SCIMago and ISI's Journal Citation Reports (JCR) role in bibliometric mapping studies.

This study investigates whether SCImago and/or JCR may complement the findings of manual citation mapping studies conducted on gerontological nursing journals in 1996-98 and 2008-2010 for two journals: Geriatric Nursing and Journal of Gerontological Nursing. This poster was presented, in part, at the INANE Meeting 2014.

  • There were two objectives, the first objective was to Identify newer frequently cited journals useful for gerontology/nursing and compare results to Journal Citation Reports (JCR), SCImago Journal Ranking (SJR), NAHRS Selected List of Journals, Google Metrics. The second objective is to study inaccurate citations in Geriatric Nursing and start a dialog with the publisher (Elsevier) on possibility of manual mapping studies can help improve cited references.
