dc.description.abstract The Academic First Year Experiences 2017-18 annual assessment report to the Office of Academic Assessment and Program Review. Closing the loop on prior years' assessment, FYE faculty concluded that U100 students were meeting all 6 SLOs, while identifying five core concepts for U100 (1. Personal Wellness/Self-Care; 2. Civic & Community Engagement; 3. Personal Responsibility to Self; 4. Accountability to Others; and 5. Strategic Thinking). Faculty recommendations for course improvement, along with a revised assessment process, are included in the report. In addition, Institutional Research and Office of Student Success data on the efficacy of U100 from 2013 to 2015 are reported, with key findings including: "there is no opportunity gap in University 100; students taking University 100 persist to the third semester at higher rates than those who do not take the course; students taking University 100 accumulate credits more rapidly than non-takers; students taking University 100 have a higher GPA than non-takers." In 2018-19 the program will implement a new assessment instrument using Google forms to gather data about the Cultural Event Report assignment. en_US
